The City of Magnolia is home base for Tour Three. As the name implies, magnolia trees are everywhere. Catch the Magnolia Blossom Festival held here in spring, which includes the World Champaionship Steak Cook-off.
Magnolia's downtown has many fine antique and specialty shops; the Courthouse Square and its National Register-listed courthouse are right out of a Faulkner novel. See the colorful murals depicting the city's early history.
Interesting tours within this driving tour include Magnolia's Historic Homes Tour … Sourthern Arkansas University Farm Tour of the university's showcase working farm … Albermarle's Artificial March with its wildlife and over 80,000 aquatic plants.
Lake Columbia, six miles northwest of Magnolia on U.S. 82, is a big hit with anglers, boaters and water-skiers. Take U.S. 79 North to Logoaly Sate Park, where interpreters show off this fascinating "State Natural Area." Stephens, north on U.S. 79, has a collection of old-fashioned shop.
